Not only known for their superb Delonghi espresso machine lines De Longhi has a stronghold in the household appliance market worldwide with additional product lines in air conditioning, portable heating, ironing, freezers, laundry and food preparation.

During a 10 year span DeLonghi acquired several companies which allowed them to expand even faster than ever into additional product offerings. A manufacturer of built-in ovens, stove tops and free-standing ovens called Elba was acquired by DeLonghi in 1986. Also in '86 Radel (Central Heating Systems) was acquired which provided Delonghi expertise in water circulation technology. Two acquisitions occurred in '87 and '89. Allowing Delonghi to expand into the air conditioning market was Ariagel. The other company their added was Vetrella which developed vacuum cleaners and was well established in the floor care market.

The very same year launched their first line of Delonghi coffee makers. But what really boosted the company’s focus on developing kitchen products was the purchase of Kenwood Appliances (a UK based company) in 2001. The brand name recognition of Kenwood Appliances gave Delonghi a huge boost internationally in the kitchen appliance industry.
